Hi, I'm James.
I'm a YouTuber turned writer and entrepreneur.
Quick Facts About Me:

When I was eighteen years old, I started a YouTube reaction channel, convinced I would chase my dreams as a filmmaker. It surprisingly took off, amassing an audience of millions and growing into a six-figure business I barely understood how to manage.
In 2025, we had our baby girl, Evelyn, and everything changed. Time became a premium commodity and I began to reflect on my habits, my goals, and my life. I researched digital minimalism and deep work practices in an attempt to regain control.
In 2024, I married my wife, Angela, and decided to quit my YouTube career for a quieter 9-5 lifestyle. After all, this seemed to be the path that responsible husbands took...
My wife and I began to discuss the overwhelming evidence of phone addiction and the associated cognitive hijacking in myself and others. Sure, you could just live off-grid, but that wasn't going to suit me or any of our friends who were working professionals.
But I spent the next few years of our marriage uneasy, feeling misplaced in the corporate world and misplaced in my own life. I started another YouTube channel in hopes of quitting my job, but old habits that I thought were productivity-centric only seemed to exhaust me further.
That's when Angela proposed an idea that was more than just a business: a program that would addressing the digital health crisis and help us become our best selves in the process.
In 2026, after months of work, we launched the beta for Hi, Society.
Hi, I'm Angela.
Quick Facts About Me:

I'm a private tutor and writer
turned cognitive science researcher.
As a freshman in high school, I dreamed of
being a professor of English. I decided my first step was to start a private tutoring business. My portfolio of clients grew until I was working 30 hours a week.
In 2024, James and I married--and spent our first year of marriage locked into a fight-or-flight mode due to high levels of stress. We clashed time and time again over technology as James turned to his phone for comfort and ended up developing a screen addiction that left me feeling isolated.
In 2021, I graduated high school and enrolled in classes at my local college. Over time, I saw that many of my peers struggled enormously to read and write. One girl told me that, though she could read individual words, she was never able to fully understand what she was reading. This encounter embedded itself in my mind.
In 2025, I graduated university as the class valedictorian and gave birth to our daughter, Evelyn. We moved and began to live a more present life. As we continued our pursuit of mind-body health, James and I began to talk about the role of technology in our lives. We practiced digital minimalism and deep work methodology.
In 2023, I transferred into a university. The money I had earned while tutoring enabled me to focus on my coursework, rather than work through school. There I continued to see incredibly talented people struggling to apply themselves, and I began to identify how thoroughly poor digital habits were hijacking our brains.
After witnessing the rise of the digital health industry and the growing demand for solutions to cognitive decline...we threw ourselves headfirst into research on the science behind reading and writing and their curative power. What we learned was so amazing that we knew we couldn't keep it to ourselves. So, we decided to launch Hi, Society and do our part to further the mental fitness movement.
Our Story
For us, Hi, Society came from the most natural of places. We always knew we wanted to work on a project together. Over the years, we discussed different wild business ideas--from laundromats to coffee shops to YouTube media companies.
But this emerged from our own life experiences: from the struggles we faced in our first few years of marriage as we figured out how to reconcile our differing upbringings and relationships with technology.
Our minds are the foundation of every decision in our daily lives. And yet, we only every speak about mental acuity as something you 'have' as opposed to something you 'develop.'
But we never wanted to just add ourselves to the already-lengthy list of people online who exist solely to warn you about the evils of social media and the danger of screens.
Hi, Society is about action. We developed as we began to take action in our lives. And we designed this so you can action in yours--because you can't change your life until you change your brain.

Our Catholic Identity

As Roman Catholics, we created Hi Society with our faith in mind. Not because the program is about religion or only for people who are Catholic, but because as its founders, our faith provides the logical basis for its existence. We believe that each and every one of us were created by God, for a purpose, and we hope that with the methods you learn in this program, you will be able to achieve that unique purpose.
